ri
i picked up a fluval 305 for 25 bucks but it didnt come with the hose or the tank clips i was thinking of makeing it out of pvc but im not sure of the size piping i would need

i got replacement hoses for mine old 305 at home depot but i cant remember the size..just take the head unit with you and size it up at the store

one other question the part on the head unit that threds on whats that for im new 2 the canister filters

that tightens down on the hose once you put it on there

does the hose go over the threds or no

screw the plastic nuts all the way down,
the hose should then fit snuggly on the fittings
then screw the nuts back up over the hoses.

You need 5/8 internal diameter hose, be careful at home depot they have 5/8 hose with 3/4 and 7/8 external diameter. The 7/8 won't kink as easy but is a lot harder to bend over the top of your tank and the compression fittings on the aquastop valve will get stuck on them, it will work but won't look as nice and you won't be able to change it without buying a new valve. I'm pretty sure the stock hosing is onlyy a couple of dollars more, I've seen it on amazon.com and many lfs.

you will have to order the clip anyway, you don't wanna try to booby-rig that. I tried it...disastrous... I got a new impellar and shaft, Impellar cover, clip and gasket for under thirty bucks for my 404. Runs like new and I got it for free. They are for sale everywhere online and some lfs' stock them.
