I just picked up an old fluval 403 and Im having a really hard time getting it started.
If I hold the top, without the canister part in a tub of water it shoots water out the output like its supposed to. but as soon as I put the top back on the canister and try to run it it does not seem to have enough power to pull the water to it.

Anyone have this problem or have any tricks with it.

Thanks

-Richie

fill the hoses and the canister full of water and then try starting with the output diffuser out of the water that should work if the impelers good

output diffuser?!

Tried all of that. Filled the canister, closed it, filled the hoses up with water then turned on. Makes a very loud clicking sounds and will not move water. But if i take the top and submerge it in water it works fine. I might try buying a new proppeller see if that helps.
