Are the baskets that hold the media baskets interchangeable? I had a old 404 and the motor bite the dust, could I order another motor and just toss it on the basket I have now or should I just get another filter ? I

You should be able to get new baskets instead of a whole new filter! Ebay is a great place to look as well.

dont think i was too clear, the motor is bad and I want to buy another to use with canister part. are they different? I know they changed the locking clamps but are the canister parts the same?

all the parts from 404's and 405's are completely interchangable. you can buy a new motor assembly and put it on your old canister with no problem at all. but remember to buy a new O-ring too.

know where I could get one?? looked on bigalsonline and they only got up to a 304

look under the 405, all the parts are interchangable..
