Fluval 405 for a 55?

Hey I was thinking about getting a Fluval 405 for a 55 gal aquarium.

I hear that the o-ring can randomly bust? How true is this? I don't want my house to flood lol

Any other good filter ideas for a 55?

Depends on your stock

on my 55 i have 2x 75 gallon biowheels because i have like 16 african cichlids.

if you have a light stock you could probably get away with it. Id put a hang on the back on there too so it catches alot of the debris and your fluval doesnt get terribly clogged.

as for the ring breaking. ive had mine for almost a year and so signs of a disaster as of yet.

That might not be enough? I could probably go bigger, if all goes as planned i will have a school of exodons, so i will probably have it heavily stocked. But I'm just trying to get ideas right now.

id def get the fluval 405 and maybe like an ac 70 or 110 just for that added boost, you can never over filtrate.

I have a fluval 205 on my 55, but the plants keep the ammonia in check. The 205 is pretty much just for mech filtration.
