I have 2 405s on my 125g and when I flip the black aquastop valves and do a water change all is good. When I disconnect the hoses to clean the cannisters I use the self primer as directed then plug in the units and debris comes out of the returns. The best way I can describe it is that it resembles what it would like like if someone placed several cubes of mysis shrimp in the return and let them thaw before blowing them all over the tank. Has anyone else experienced this and how did they fix it?

Mine have done this as well. Most of the junk youre getting blown back into the tank is in the inlet / outlet tubes. Fresh tubing will help that.

Yup. Or just take a good brush to the filter lines during the canisters service and wash them out good.

just put a sock on the end of the return..a clean one obviously..like a dress sock..and it will catch all the debris when you restart your system
