fluval 405 media help

i recently bought a fluval 405 for my 55 and i need help with buying my media i have a jack dempsey texas cichlid and 2 jaguar cichlids and 1 tooth nose pleco 1 rhino pleco and 1 sailfin pleco i have the standard media it came with should i keep that or change it up and i have well water with a high iron count thank you

I wouldn't use the polishing pads they clog very easily . You have some potential giant waste monsters with those plecos, water movement is key .

My 405/404's are full of ceramic noodles in the bottom two baskets, eheim ehfi fix in the middle. top basket is full of eheim substrat pro.

What else are you using for filteration? your going to have quite a bio load

i thought that filtration would be enough for my 55 and what should i replace the polishing pads with what does that media that you use help with?

my canister: bottom: ceramic rings and blue sponge, middle: Eheim sub pro, Top: eheim sub pro and quilt batting.

Mine goes Poly fil - purigen - bio- bio. No complaints here.

Now what does all those medias above do for clarity and bio and what's theirs purpose to benefit the tanks
