Fluval 405 or Rena XP2

XP2. Cheaper, more media volume, cheaper media, bulletproof reliable.

agreed but I would make the jump up to the XP3 for more media space and a bit more flow.

the price difference is fairly small between the two.

I will also be running a AC110 so dont you think that the xp2 will be plenty?

well, it does depend on what size tank and stocking, but I really feel that the XP3 is a much better value dollar for dollar than the XP2 because of the extra media space. you can cram a lot of media into that third basket. and a little bit more flow helps too.

If you're considering the cost of the FLUVAL-405, might as well go all the way with the RENA-XP4. The more filtration and bio the better, even with your AC-110 power filter.

what size tank? You looking for more mechanical or bio filteration their both great filters and can be found quite reasonable on Craigslist and/or Ebay.

More is always better difference in XP 2 to XP 3 about 20.00..

Personally I haven't spent more than 70.00 on either Rena XP3 or Fluval 405/404....

Any tank over a 100 gals and you looking for the most bang for your buck canister, choose an FX 5.....199.00 on Ebay. I bought a used one on craigslist for 80.00..

this would be used on a 55 gallon...I am looking for an XP3 only...I dont think I will use the AC110 on this tank.
