My 405 started to leak after Sandy, I had it for 2 years with no problems. I thought it was a gasket so I replaced and it work well with no leaks till I did a water change. When I turn everything back on it started to leak again. I took it apart and I didn't see any cracks in the body. I had someone else look at it and he didn't see any cracks either. Does anyone have an idea what the problem could be. It is leaks where the motorhead connects to the body I've ordered another gasket but i feel that this may not be the problem.

I'd investigate the aquastop valve and hosing. On a 205 I cut the hoses tight and if they were pulling or pushing on the aquastop valve it would leak. It is also possible the valve is bad.

I did put some vasoline it seemed to slow the flow down

I hate to be the bearer of bad news but my 405 has been leaking for almost a year now and I still can't find the problem. Luckily for me it only happens when the power is off...like when doing my weekly water changes. Mine leaks from where the aquastop valve meets the head of the housing, but it actually drips out of the side handles. I've swapped out everything except the actual motor housing with no luck so I've drilled a hole in the intake tubing just below the water line so if I ever lose power it won't leak too much before breaking the syphon and stopping. Not the best fix but whatever.

This seems to be what is happening to my 405. I bought another Rena xp2 to replace the 405 I'm going to see if it will work without leaks on a tank in the basement to minimize the damage if it leaks to badly.
