Good morning
I might be getting a75G tank in a couple of days
I've decided to go with a fluval filter
I'm trying to figure out would a fluval 406 be good for a 75
Would I be able to have lots of fish with that GPH

With "Lots of fish" I would shoot for a higher turnover rate. The 406 listed specis 383 gph, ~5x per hour turnover rate. Petsmarts local to me keep having sales on FX6 filters at over 900gph - almost 3x the turnover of the 406. I paid something like $50 more for my FX6 than they had the 406 listed at.

Keep in mind you aren't going to get the listed flow rate packed full of media anyway.

406 is good just combine it with an AC 110. So in the 406 you have the red prefilter and 4 trays of bio that should be able to keep up with a large bioload. And in the 110 just the big foam and a stack of the blue/white filter floss. So the 110 is all mechanical/extra turnover and the 406 is all bio. Throw in a sponge filter for bonus points.

Thanks
I really don't want a HOB filter

Well if you have the money then go for the larger fx6. It will give you the option of "lots of fish"
