Hey guys i have a quick question i am setting up my 65 gallon tank and while reading the instructions on the fluval box it said that it must be 4.5 feet under the tank (gravity filter). My tank is hovering right over the ground and i had space set aside it for the filters.

Actually, the instructions state that "the canister base shall never be more than 4.5 feet below the water level". I didn't see a minimum installation height recommended for this filter in the instructions.

I prefer to install any canister filter that has the pump/motor assembly in the top of the filter housing so that the top of the assembled filter is at least 4 inches below the water level of the tank, unless the manufacturer recommends otherwise.
