Let's hear some opinions on a couple respected canisters. I'm filtering a 75g tank and will also have an ac110 on it for added surface agitation. Which one and why?

I'll add that right off the bat I'm leaning towards the Eheim - it is rated for "159 gallon aquariums" where the Fluval 406 is rated for "100 gallon aquariums" and is about $15 more than the Eheim. I know that these ratings are usually a lot of talk, but still.

Since you already have a AC110, I would go Eheim. It will provide needed bio filtration. It all depends on the stock you plan on keeping. You might just need both canisters.

Also, ratings do not mean a thing. I am currently running a 2217 on a 55g and I am not satisfied, I am getting another one. My 406 on the other hand makes waves in a 55g. Once you actually see both plugged in and working, you will see what I mean.

Like I said in the OP, I know that ratings are mostly talk. My stock will be light honestly, I hate crowding in tanks. I've read so many good things about the eheim since I posted this, and I'm pretty sure that's what I'll be running.
