Went to clean my fluval 406 canister filter this morning and have run in to some trouble. After reassembling the filter, filling it with water, and plugging it in, it would work fine for about one minute, then I'd start to hear a faint rattling sound. This sound would get louder over the course of about a minute before finally sounding like someone threw a rock in the impeller, then it would go silent and the filter would stop working. I tried three times to get it to work and it did the same thing each time. I checked the impeller and the chamber it sits in as well each time, and cleaned them both, which appeared fine regardless. Called customer service and they said to buy a new impeller since I still have the original from 2.5 years ago. For now I've still got a sponge and small HoB on the tank (75 gallons), but am worried since there are three large, messy Catfish in the tank that produce a lot of waste (12" Yellow Bullhead, 13.5" Gibbiceps Pleco, 5" Striped Raph) and I'd like to have the filter going again soon. I'm about to go pickup a new impeller but if that doesn't work, I might have to use the warranty and send back the filter for a new one, which will mean most likely at least a week or two without the tank's primary filter. Anyone ever have something like this happen or have any suggestions to give?
