Do you have to change the Bio Max?

The package says to replace them every three months, but I was wondering do you really have to or will it be okay using it for life?

Any insite will be appreciated?

Don't believe everything you read. That is posted so you have to buy more products. Just rinse and reuse.

You should be good for years to come but life?

You will have to test your water parameters to see.

it's biomedia even if it's falling apart it's still working (arguably smaller chunks will have more surface area so even better) NEVER replace it and if you must rinse it do so SPARINGLY (maybe once every 2-3 months at most) and do so with water from your tank with tapwater you will kill off all your beneficial bacteria and your tank will end up going through a cycling period again (which in turn may kill your fish)

if you have enough mech. filtration before the biomedia you would never have to clean it

bottom line NO it does not have to EVER be replaced

Had mine in my canister for a year, rinsed it every couple of weeks. Seemed fine.

Thanks, my questions were answered.

I have been using the same biomax in my canister for the last 5 years.

unless it is crumbling apart, you don't need to replace it.

so far, even after 5 years, its not crumbling for me.

they want you to replace it every 3 months so you keep buying product.

the reality is, it is really a product that you can use for many years.
