hi i am new . i just set up a small tank using Fluval c3 . was thinking of supercharging the bio filter thus install a small basket of biohomes, azoo4 in 1 and some coral chips under the outlet. i also install a airstone below the basket to aerate and "move" the media.
wonder is this effective or i should just removed it?
thanks in advance :)

I would remove it, the amount of bacteria in a tank is directly correlated to the food source. So adding a bunch of bio media wont really do anything as the c3 already provides more than enough surface area to keep ammonia and nitrites at 0.

Thanks for your reply . I was thinking of "over "filter the grow up tank for the 3 plecos staying there.( By the way i am also running a small K1+ sponge filter in the tank.)
so correct me if I am wrong I can't just cultivate bb just by adding additional media ? Is there any area to improve on the water quality of this small grow up tank ?:)

no .. bacteria will ONLY grow to the amount to consume the food source(ammonia ,nitrite) , all extra bb WILL die off...HOWEVER, IF you are moving to a larger tank with a slightly bigger population (or fish size) bigger filters (bio surface ) will certainly help....

+1 on the above, if the bb have nothing to eat, they cannot survive, so the amount of ammonia and nitrite being produced will sustain only the amount of bacteria it can feed. having the additional media certainly won't hurt you, but it won't have any added benefit.
