fluval canister 405 filter i got 1 for my 55 gallon havent put it on yet but should i just use this / will my tank be good with just that. i have a dolphin about 5 inches front an 8 small cat fish that are about2-3 inches i do feed them alot tho. should i have more or another type of filter on there. Thx

I use one for my 75 and it does a great job cleaning, I did add a emperor 400 tho to help out since i overstock my tank.

design could be simpler like the eheim classic but its not too bad.

If you have not used it yet I would take it back and get an Eheim 2217. They cost about the same. Actually the Fluval may have cost a little more. I have a Fluval 405 that I have to send back this week due to the plastic cracking at the motor base where the handle mounts. It is a known problem for this filter. I know at least 6 other people with the exact same problem.

i use mine on my 55 and i love it. it keeps a pretty good flow in the tank along with a powerhead and i have another hob filter on it just for kicks and giggles. if you have it use it.

I've been using one on my 110 for over a year and have never had any issues with it. It's not big enough for my tank alone but you should be ok...though it always is a good idea to have a second filter just for backup if one dies on you.

I got one in conjunction with my JBJ filter. Works great! I haven't had a problem with it. It's on my 75g. Depending on what you kind of catfish you got, the Fluval 405 should be fine.
