hi im looking for some really cheap fluval filters... like as cheap as u can get. if your giving them away thats great. Being a college student, as many of you know, money is tight.

Ill come pick them up, clean them, w/e needs to be done with them. it doesnt matter. i just need more filtration.

Thanks

Todd

yea but i live in an apartment and theres to much of a risk of it over flowing.... but say i was going to try the sump, what size should it be for a 125. ive got a 5 or a 10 standard i could use. and i have a 55 gal, but id really hate to waste that on a sump, id like to keep it for a display tank.

still looking for cheap filters though

Yes u can use another tank but what im doing is using a 32gallon tub out of plastic from Walmart and will chalk in Partitions (plastic/PVC plates)for different filteration. Ill have Filter media, Media(bioballs), plants, then discharge pump.

You can ensure no spills but cant garuantee a pump not burnt up.

If you leave siphon breaks aka water line setting techniques you wont spill on accident.

Check valves help too...

again im using a 32gallon tub from walmart for my 225.

Now is this enough... who knows... i know i dont but ill have it with my Fx5 to help filter and the Fx5 does 965g/h but im at 5ft of head so i dont know if infact its rated for that much head at 965 gallon... my guess its prolly around 500g/h at 5ft of head maybe less. I know the Rena xp4 i had didnt have the balls to push 5 ft of head and the next step is Fx5 or 1000ghp pump in a sump.

Again this is just what im doing and il make sure i do not leak. If anything my pump will burn up before i spill.

got a link to what your doing step by step... i want to be as safe as i can with this

Ill look for one but i cant seem to find where i seens what im talking about... Basically ive read that like any filtering system u want A. Filter (coarse foam or white media)B. Biological stage to consume the smaller particles that Algae live off of, so u will need a Place to grow tsaid life (bioballs section). C. U want a way to put nutrition back into the tank to grow healthy happy fish (so ill use Plants!). D. u will want a Discharge pump which can be 30-100 bucks (still its cheaper than a filter than can not do the job or even pump 5 feet of head).

Ill try and find u the link i had somewhere around here....

thanks man i appreciate it..

to everyone else still looking for cheap filters.
