Okay so we all know, or should know that there is a max height (head) for our canister filters, however does anyone have experience with the minimum side of things.

I would like to place a 40b under a 75. Next to the 40b would be a 306. I would have the 306 on the floor and the 40b a couple inches higher sitting on the longer dimension of 2x4s.

This would place the aquatop valve about 6 to 8in below the surface of the tank. Here is Fluvals response as well. Why am I not just listening to them you ask? It took multiple tries to get the minimum vs the maximum to be effectively recieved on their end so I have less confidence in their answer then I normally would.

Info or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

Hopefully someone out there has had similar setups with any of their canister filters and can weigh in.

The 306 in the picture would come off the stand and be switched next to where the 30 is currently as it upgrades to a 40b.

I would test it now with the tank that is currently under the 75g (remove the 306 from the pedestal). As long as the water line is higher than the canister head, it will easily gravity feed into the canister. I was able to demonstrate a SunSun 303b working to a buyer, with a 5g bucket that was 3" higher off the ground.
