im picking up a fluval chi tomororw and was thinking of making a mini “pond” biotope, the goal is to replicate a slow water brakish sort of bay while also being easily maintained. The main hard scape will be a cluster of oyster shells with a few bits of Val. The tank will be freshwater and probably won’t have a heater. The plan is to keep the stock filter and light. I hope to stock a few ghost shrimp, a nerite or two and a stickleback or sheepshead minnow.

I'll ping vitaly vitaly he had that awesome oyster reef themed tank

Okay, someone from the Chesapeake Bay Area has a tank and they are sending me a cluster of shells from their tank but I don’t think it’s vitaly vitaly tank.

Thanks. But my oyster tank is only 30g. You can get some naked gobies, crested gobies, mud crabs and blennies in there. That's what I have. Ideally, you should salt it, but I am keeping mine fresh for now. I even had barnacles in pure fresh, but they have died after 2 months. Not sure if it's due to freshwater or becuase of lack of food.

Oh, you should also get blue crabs and toadfish

I could have a toadfish or bluecrab in a 5 gallon?!? I was thinking a lone sheep head minnow or stickleback

5 gallon is too small. I would only get ghost shrimp, nerite snails, and darter gobies (or one crested gobies). Darter gobies are really tiny and would be perfect
