So I have my 75G up and running with 2 Penguin 350's and just added a Fluval E 300. I placed the heater in and the tank was 76.5 when I went to bed. I set the temp for 78.5. I woke up and the tank was 75.5. The house is at 70 degrees. It was placed in the middle of the tank between the two 350's. It is intermittently flashing LF. I moved the heater within 2 inches of one of the filter intakes and it still flashed LF. I unplugged the heater and plugged it back in and it now registers 77 after topping off my tank with warm water and the face is green. I am discouraged that regardless of low flow this heater did not operate better. I am hoping the new placement fixes this issue but what does not make sense to me is that I had a vastly underpowered 10G heater on this tank for the last 5 days and it kept it at 76 degrees. This 100G heater can't even keep it 75.5. I bought this heater because of the protection it has for my oscar (plastic guard). Just hope it works this time, not sure what avenue to go if it does not. Anyone else experience this>

I now have the heater at a 45 degree angle as suggested on other sites. The LF has stopped but it has not moved above 76.5 in an hour. I will give it some more time but I am thinking that this heater will be going back. The more I read the more I wish I did not make this purchase. The fact that Fluval allows these heaters to still be sold really changes my mind on purchasing the 406. I believe I will be avoiding Hagen and sticking with Marineland as they have always treated me well. Teaches me not to stray from what has worked in the past.

Turn it up a tad, not all heater internal thermostats are 100% accurate, their usually +/-1-2 degrees F. If your using a stick on thermometer or mag then its just as inaccurate. Best bet is a heater controller or a accurate thermometer such as ir or digital.

Had the same issues with mine. After replacing them I tried to use one in a 20g quarantine and still didn't keep up the temp. Easily the worst equipment I ever bought.

I use a 200W Eheim Jager submersible on my 75G and it keeps it at 76 perfectly; I used to have a Fluval, but it went wonky & wouldn't turn off one day (it was less than a year old), so I refuse to buy their heaters again.
