I have a 20 gallon growout currently housing a pinktail chalceus and a red claw cray. My friend recently had to tear down his 75 and gave the filter to me. Would the 305 be to powerfull for my system or should it be fine?

Well...since Pink Tailed Chalceus tend to be more top and mid level fish, I think the current just might be too much. I'm usually all for putting a powerful filter on a small tank, but it might be rough on those guys. I'd say try it out...if they seem like they're uncomfortable, just pull the plug.
