I have a 125 african cichlid tank. i have a fx 5 running on it and it has been running great so far. since last time i cleaned it a significant amount of air bubles keep on building up in it. if i trun off and on the filter a lot of junk comes out of it. the air just builds up in it, i cant figure out how. there are no air stones near the intake and everything is sealed shut. plz help.

make sure all the hoses going into the tank, the fittings are all below the water line.

I'm not sure but I've heard that FX5's self purge. I don't know if I even know what I'm talking about, The Doctor

+1 on what twistsisted said and especially if you put the pad on the bottom tray. Switch pads and only put one on the top tray and that should work fine

i get that problem when i use the fine filter pads.... dont use those fine/coarse extra filterpads and it should stop bubbling

bubbling is always a sign of clogging. Loosely pack your media baskets

Air shouldn't build up in the canister when its clogged. This is usually a different issue. Does the air purge out when it shuts down? Make sure your not over tightening the screw knobs. For reference, mine are just a barely snug and I can easily turn them while the filter is in operation.

If you have a pad in any baskets other than the bottom one at the bottom of the basket, this can trap air below the pad and it will eventually work its way through while the filter is running and move to the top of the canister.

Do you run Co2?

Opps my bad, i assumed it was microbubbles since it is the case most of the time with FX5 users.
