Fluval FX5 for saltwater tank?

ummm... ok!!
if a FX5 was used on a saltwater tank would it be ok to use on a freshwater tank now? what would need to be done if anything to beable to use on freshwater? also if the impeller was broken how hard are they to replace?

Not too sure about the impellar never worked on an FX5. Just clean it up real nice and flush the lines with freshwater. I have used fluvals from fresh to salt and salt to fresh with no problems at all. Just rinse :)
 
just wash it out.... rince it good with some water and its good as new.... as far as the impellar buy the replacement and follow the instructions....
 
My fx5 was bought used from a salt water set up.

I cleaned it out really well with hot water. took the motor off and got the sand out of the impeller and replaced all the bio media.

I have been having issues with mine but not because of this.
 
i wouldnt use hot water to clean i filter...
 
^ why not hot water? Ever hurts anything. Hot water will help desolve the salts that may still be in the filter.
