Ok so I ordered an fx5 off amazon.com, it's a combo with bio media and and pre filter media... Does anyone know if the bio media it comes with is enough? And can anyone else list what exactly you use in your own fx5... Thanks

FX5 doesn't come with bio media, you have to buy that extra. i don't know how much your seller included in your purchase price.
i usually put two of the boxes of the ceramic rings in each basket and i only fill 2 of the baskets in the FX5. the others i usually leave empty. or sometimes i put the nitrate reducing filter floss in one.. but only one layer cause i don't want flow problems.

I have heard many people have problems with the fine pads getting clogged too easily and it generally seems to cause micro bubbles. I just used the stock sponges and had 2 full baskets of bio rings with the top basket half full for room for carbon to clear tannins. I never had any problems and I thought my water was very clear and nice.
A agree, stay clear on the fine filter pads. I tried them in mine and it reduced the flow pretty quickly and caused micro bubbles.
