Fluval Fx5 leaking issue! EMERGENCY!

I bought a FLuval Fx5 roughly 6 months ago.. loved it...until this..

today i cleaned the filter, took it apart and sprayed everything down real nice. Now when i put the filter back together the top leaks very badly!! when i put the lid on and screw it down, it still shoots out water from the seal...i cannot figure out how to stop the leaking.. anyone have any advice or solutions?? please help! i ordered another fx5, but how do i fix this one?

If you have tightened those clamps down on that fx as hard as you can and it is still leaking you can order that gasket ring that goes on the top of that that should fix your problem

sounds like the baskets are not fully seated in the filter housing...

if it didn't leak before you took it apart, you have something not positioned correctly.....

take it back apart and make sure the o-ring in the bottom is in it's channel and that the top housing o-ring is in position also....

You can try putting some vaseline on that rubber O-ring but you must not of put it together right . Mine has never leaked.

Happened to me once...and it was exactly because the baskets weren't seated properly.

lol i just checked on mine, i'd try vaseline on the ring and see what happens

ill try moving the baskets around again, im getting very frustrated, i have placed the baskets in 5 different times.. i have not tried vaseline though..but will try anything.. i might need a new gasket ring.. this fx5 is in practically MINT condition! ive never had this problem before, i feel so stupid ha

i tried to re-arrange the baskets.. i am pretty sure they are in the right spot.. The lid was not sealed.. I am frustrated, cuz I am in no way shape or form good with tools or fixing things.. i still have no tried vaseline...


IF ANYONE WANTS TO BUY THIS FOR 175$ let me know... This is prolly a quick fix, and I am just not seeing it.

I just found the o ring.. apparently it fell off the lid.. Have to go to work, hopefully I can get it fixed.. but Im getting my copy of Modern Warfare 3 tonight..

good that you found the o ring...FX5 price has just dropped, Amazon has it for $210ish and it ships free with out sales tax..
