Hi,

Was wondering if anyone has a recommendation of what type of filtration I should use on my 250gal freshwater tank. I currently own a FX5 but should I run 2 FX5 or a combination of a FX5 and a wet/dry filtration.

Thanks,
bill

Is there a wet dry filter that anyone would recommend? Not a good builder so I would probably be purchasing one. 250 gallon tank with only 2 arowana and maybe 2 more medium size fish. Keep in mind that I already have the FX5.

Sump all the way. Build one, don't be scared! :D

They are not difficult.
:D

Could you handle buying a tank, say 55gal, and siliconing a couple small sheets of glass?

If you can only pick one, go with the sump because it will give you much more bio media room and you'll have a higher turnover rate than an FX5. But like other people said, ideally you should have an FX5 and a sump. A combo of these 2 is better because the FX5 will catch more of the waste at the bottom, but the sump gives you more bio.

If you're not sure how to build a sump, you should just go buy one at the LFS. I would buy an acrylic one because if something happens to the glass or seams in the sump, it's going to be a big pain.
