Just bought a 120gl 5' tank that I was going to add an Fx5 for filtration.. The tank came damaged, and the store is replacing it.. They have a corner flow tank that is $200 more, and the w/d filter around $100 more than the fx5. Is it worth to have the corner flow with w/d over the normal tank with the fx5?? Will stock African cichlids to the new tank..

First, assuming you don't get carried away with your stocking, the FX5 offers more than enough capacity and water movement for a 120. I tend to favor canister filters and would prefer the simplicity, ease and tidiness of the FX5 and wouldn't even consider the overflow and sump option.

I'd go with the FX5. It will do a good job of filtration and has a clean look to it as far as the intake and outflow.

Hi... bummer about your tank...!!!

I have a 125G with Fluval 405 cannisters... If I had it do over... I would definetly get a tank with overflows!!! Why...? to have the flexibilty to add a w/d in the future without having a HOB overflow as I have now...!!!

For now... I believe, that you can plumb the fx5 directly to the overflows...

I must admit that I have not done this but I am quite certain someone has.... You may need to re-write your post to see about the pro and cons of this...

Wet dry is always the best option for filtration, but a fx5 is simple and it gets the work done
