I am going to purchase a used FX5 but the owner says it doesn't come with any of the foam filter blocks. I see they sell 3 packs of this stuff but my question is how many filter blocks does it take to fill up a tray on the FX5? I want to get an idea to see if this deal is really worth it. Thanks in advance guys.

Instead of buying the original sponges.
Buy a 2' x 6' sheet of 1" 20 PPI foam and cut them to fit the sides of the trays. You will never need to buy foam blocks again as you can make tons from this stuff. This way you can have small particle filtration with a lot of surface area.

He was selling it for 140, I'm going to tell him to drop the price. If he doesn't, I'll probably pass. Looks like I may need to spend another 30-40 dollars for the foam.
