Fluval Fx5 rim connector doesnt fit ?

Hey just cheked with my old aquaria and the rim connectors doesnt seem to fit on the edge the aluminium edge is too (broad) :/ u got some rubber rings too but i dont know how to attach em? doesnt show any picture in the manual and cant find out how to anyway im not sure how my new aquaria will be on the edges but im hoping that it fits , but as of right now i cant use the FX5 yet any suggestions what i should try to do ?

Looks like that piece snaps onto the aquarium edge and the hose lays over it. O-rings hold the hose to the part...I would think it is to keep the hose from kinking...
if the aquarium is too thick, trim the part...
 
Yea that is an idea but im gonna sell the one i got now later on and dont really want to start trimming / cutting it :/

Oh well no big deal i guess , the new tank will be coming this week i hope :) il use old media from the filter ive got maybe and add water from the old tank to make it cycle faster the fish i got is pretty hardy tho shouldnt be any probs.
 
I had the exact same problem while setting up my FX5. I was trying to push so hard to snap it on that I was sure that plastic piece was going to break before slipping over the "too wide" rim. I was giving it a final last try and it slipped over without breaking and fits fine. It really should come in two widths... but it did finally fit.
