Hi,

I currently have a 50g and plan on getting a 150g soon. Maybe next year summer. So i've finally saved up enough dough for the FX5 and want to put it on my 50g. Do you think thats WAY too much filtering? I mean i know it is but is it possible to turn down the flow rate of the filter? Thanks

depends on wht media you have in for the flowrate... max flowrate is achieved when there is no media at all in the filter... full of media flow rate is probally more like 6-700 gph

and i would put it on just make sure that the current isnt messing with your fish... what do you have in the tank for fish as of now???

Which is still way too much for a 55. The FX5 has no flow restrictor.

BTW, what price did you find for the FX5? There's a store on ebay carrying them for $199

you could make it work just split the return into a few hoses and have one as a spray bar or even into a diy wet dry then the current issue would be solved

Save your money as when you get your new tank the FX 5 will probable be down another $30 or even there will be a better one on the market don’t get if just for the sake of it. You will have a nice spar bath for your fish running that bad boy on a 50

Currently its stocked with a 4.5 inch dat, 4 x 1.5 inch clown loaches, 4 inch channa auranti. and 2x5 channa stewartii.

$230 is still a good price. The average street price here is $300.

What i was thinking was split one of the outputs into two which would go into the tank and the other one would go into a mini sump. So essentially i'd have 3 outputs. What do you lot think of this. Reason is I have the money to get it now. And if i dont spend the money on the filter now i'll prolly just end up buying something else with it. Like lots of drinks.

That will do your 50 and its at £10 at the mo get that and sit on it till you realy require the filter.
