I'm buying a used fx5 online. I saw that I doesn't comes with filter foam. Would it be good to just use pot scrubbers as replacement of the foam? I also saw rectangular shapes filter pad that may fit. Which you be better. Thanks!

The pot scrubbies will help bb colonize but wont do anything for mechanical filtration (water clarity) amazon usually has the pads for the fx cans

Do yourself a favor and get the actual correct foams for the sides of the baskets. They're NOT expensive and last for years. For the internal "bio" part of the baskets, cheap out there if you like, as mostly all ceramic bio media , lava rock or even pot scrubbers will suffice, as long as you aren't EXTREMELY overstocked. Even then, you can always add a second bio filter, even if it's just a large internal sponge filter.
