Hi,

I have 2x Fluval FX6 Filters running on my tank.

One is extremely noisy.

I have literally taken it apart and cleaned every part, but the sound is just as bad (if not worse).

I have also tried sitting the filter on a piece of carpet as well.

The only reason I can just about live with it at the moment is that it is in a cupboard. If it wasn't, I'd be going crazy.

Are there any reasons why it would be so noisy? The impeller, housing, and filter are completely clean, so I assume it must be a damaged part? (all is working as it should though).

Anyone got any ideas or tips and tricks, is there a particular area that could cause the noise?

Thank you,

Can you identify where the noise is coming from?

Check that the impeller shaft doesn't have a crack. Try with a new shaft/impeller or swap the one from the working filter temporary.

Yes, think that would be a smart move. Next time I do a clean, will swap over the impellers and see what effect it has.

Remove impeller and apply a little 100 % petroleum jelly to the shaft should make it more quite.
