Anybody have any experience with Fluval's heaters? I'm looking to replace a marineland stealth LED heater due to the horror stories i've read and was wondering if anybody had any input on the quality of these heaters? Thanks

I just put one in the 40g I'm setting up - M150.

One thing that is going to bug me (and I know will end with me buying something else) is that the top of heater has to sit quite a long way out of the water, this, along with the 'bracket' the suction cups attach to being fairly small, means you would have to keep the water level at least 2" below the start of the top trim, or cut a slice out of the inside of the rim. Luckily the person I bought the tank from had already cut a slice out of the inside of the tank rim, so I have been able to use this heater (for now) - I like my tanks filled right to the trim!

Other thing is that the heater keeps sliding down in the holder.

Temp adjuster is nice with a noticeable 'click' when you turn it.

The reflective surface should make it dissappear into the background once I've finished planting.

Has a light blue led which only comes on when it's heating which is definitely better than others with their red/green 'always on' led.

hmm.. i wonder if a different suction cup could be used to keep it from sliding in to the holder? as far as the thing having to be out of the water that wouldn't be too much of an issue for me, i keep the water in the tank im upgrading I guess about 3-4" below the trim cuz of the stock (bichirs) - any suggestions for better heaters? Would you say they're better quality than Aqueons?

My first suggestion would be titanium. If you don't want to go that route, I'd check out the Rena Smartheaters... just got one for my 33 gallon and it's nice, it alerts you with LED lights if your tank is too hot or cold, and also when the heater is heating. You can also plumb it to a canister. Pretty cool. Fluval makes those other heaters that do similar stuff, but they are just glass heaters with a case over them, unlike the renas.
Someone is going to suggest ebo jager, but im not a fan.

Hmm okay, i'll look in to the rena heaters, what is the price range on those?
