I just use prefilterr media and biomax. Never used carbon and ammonia remover.

I never use them cuz they don't do anything. Except for absorbing some of the medications i used. Other than that, their of no use to the tank.

I would have to disagree, I think carbon does take away some of the funk of the water and does help with clarity....

I have a 404 and upon suggestion, I use the most odd combination on media. There are 4 chambers, and in 2 of them, I use bio balls, and in the other 2 I use store bought sponges rinsed first in tap water, then aquarium water. It is weird, but my water is CRYSTAL clear.

I use the sponges and the biomax that come with the set-up.In one I use 100L of purigen and the other I use 60L.Both 304's
