Fluval pre filter

I just bought pre filter thinking it was biomax. I can not return this so what do you guys think of using prefilter ceramic noodles in the top part of a XP for bio colony?

should be no prblem. Add a few live snails to graze on the bactrial film that will grow on the media. They will stimulate the bacteria to grow faster due to predation and will pruduce baby snails that will blow back into your tank as free live food.
