fluval pre-filter

Anyone use this stuff? I'm debating getting some for my canisters. How does it compare to the usual sponges for 1st stage mechanical filtration?

i personaly throw half prefilter half amo carb on my first stage "first stage past the sponge" i back this up with half charcoal half phos bag and half nit bag 1 on either side.... and polishing pads for final prefilter does a good job i dont use biomax due to it being in my hob

I use fluval prefilter or ehiem ehfimech as the first layer of media in all my canister filters. I follow the designed setup of eheim filters, keeps the bio media from getting gunked up.
