Hi guys,

Im getting an internal Fluval U4 for my 55gal flowerhorn tank, is this enough? Or should i put in another smaller internal?

Please advise on the model. (I do not want externals, to much upkeep for 1 tank, my last experience went bad)

Dude honestly no internal filter is going to be enough for a fully grown fh. If you plan to pick up more then one, with that money you can buy something much better. Buy a hob, there a breeze to clean. You where givin some good advice the last thread you made but you seem to be hooked on getting a internal. By all means pick one up.

internal filters are bulky and typically not very powerful, also dont be surprised when ur FH gets pissed and starts whaling on it, mine used to attack the intake tubes for my HOB filters on the tank. doesnt have to be a canister, but do yourself a favor, flowerhorns are messy, go pick up 2 emperor 400s which are fairly cheap for the amount of water they push through, one for either side, and ur good to go. easy to work on and a healthier tank. personally marineland isnt my favorite if you can get them id go with aquaclears, either a 110 and a powerhead on the other side of the tank to push waste towards it or a pair of AC70s

^^ I could not seem to find emprors around where I live. Im going with an AquaOne HOB. And the reason i Keep saying internal is because the U4 im geting is or free. So after you heard that, Fluval U4 internal, and an AquaOne HOB should be good to go?

Hot Slime im gonna go with your idea, since I can utilize it much better. I will be adding an Aqua one HOB suitable for a 55gal AND an extra HOB for my old 25 gallon) for a little more support.

Oh PS could someone please tell me, how many gallons or litrest should the HOB be delivering, so I know which range to get it in. Thanks.

AquaOnes largest size seem to only be up to 200 liters/52 gallons? That's not really great specs, if your buying your filter locally try see what other brands you can find. A penguin 350 would be better or a aquaclear 70/110.
