I went flyfishing yesterday in my buddy and I's favorite spot. This place is a LONG walk down through the state forest to this stream. Most locals don't even know it's stocked heavily with trout and is a 4 mile delayed harvest stream. The water was low in these pics. Usually in the spring and fall it's up about a foot or two from where it is in these pics. I landed 12 and had I don't know how many hook ups/losses. I call them "LDRs" Long Distance Release.
While we were fishing, we came up on a little pocket with these two HUGE fish. I about lost it because I thought they were trout. The biggest rainbow I caught in PA came from this stream, so I knew there were huge trout here. Turns out they were carp! Don't know what carp were doing as far up in this river as they were. It's a pretty cold water river, and the big river was about 3 miles from where these guys were. I assume they were spawning. Anyway, I caught one with my hands. Probably about 28 inches. Sorry no pics. But here are the pics I did get.
typical hold over brown. This stream is a VERY healthy stream. I actually caught a 4" wild rainbow here yesterday.
