Hi,

From what i have read on a few different sites - these are safe medications to use on this turtle species.
What i can't find reliable info on is how to administer the dosage. Sure, the time between the treatments must be the same as with any other species of animal that are infested with parasites ("treat again after 2 weeks" and so on)..? But dosage? At one site i recall reading that "a recommended dose of levamisole is 10 mg/kg"(?), but i think that was the dosage for giving it orally.

People say that it is optimal to administer the medicine orally, and im sure it is. But would it just be a complete waste of medicine to pour it in the water? I have done this with stingrays with great success.

I am thinking that it is reasonable to use these medicines as a preventative on newly acquired individuals. Hope for some feedback.

Waste of meds are placed in water. Both meds can be given sq or orally. But should be dosed by a vet. The levamisole dosage is for either oral or sq. They are cb nowadays so may want to find out if it’s already been treated but I assume you have a wild frt.

medicating the water will be a waste of meds. Everything has to be oral or injected. levamisole has a very narrow safety range in reptiles. The best thing to do is send out a fecal to a veterinary lab for analysis to see if you even need to deworm. IF you do we will not what drug to use
