Fly River Turtle + Sand?

I have some 3mm quartz sand [black in colour] and I was wondering if I could add some to my FRT's tank. Her tank is mostly Bare Bottom right now with just some fine crushed coral along the bottom.
She seems to take an interest in the crushed coral.
If I was to add this sand would she bury herself in it like a stingray would?

When my FRT was very small, I had him in fine crushed coral that he burrowed in, but now I have a bare bottom with drift.
They tend to sometimes eat the crushed coral which I'm guessing could be beneficial for calcium.
I think adding sand to the mix could be detrimental.
I wouldn't want my turtle ingesting any sand and getting an intestinal blockage.
Just my 2 cents.

Good point I never thought about that before.
Although I dont see her often eat the substrate so maybe it won't be a problem?
Anyone else?

I've see them in several aquariums/zoos with Gravel and in bare bottom set ups, but never with sand.
