Fly river turtle

Any FRT under 10" is grey area Illegal. No person or Institution is breeding them and USFW knows that. That means all the hatchlings or smaller animals you see were hatched/smuggled from PNG, laundered in Indo and Japan, then smuggled into the US. I've been offered "Zoo" bred FRTs in the past, and I'm still waiting on paperwork...........USFW won't confiscate from an end-user, or someone selling just one. If you're selling more than one, you're just plain stupid and risk any collection or animals you have being confiscated.............

Ok so now my next question then is how many other aquatic freshwater turtles look like a fly river? Are there things to look for to properly ID one of these? Maybe what I am buying is something else similar to a frt?
None really resemble any other turt except for soft-shells.
And I mean the resemblance in the snout-nose and having soft shells.

Other than that, they look more like sea-turtles to me than anything.
The front limbs mostly.

I am wondering if there are turtles that could be mistaken for frt?

Softshells would be the closest.

The easiest indication is price, a frt is $300-1000 for a hatching.

A Florida or Chinese soft shell are about $25-50.

They can be had in the various Indo/Asian markets for as little as $5US each.......Smuggling makes the markup like 1,000,000,000,000,000,000,0%........
