So I'm feeding my 20" Silver Aro the other day. He always gets excited and "attacks" the food as it hits the water...well, he got a little too excited and jumped right out of the tank!!!:nilly:. Flopped around on the top, then did a swan dive onto the floor! Tossed him back in...still eating, only much calmer.
Has anyone else had this happen? I imaging a big yes with Aro's!

Arowanas are very aggressive when it come to feeding time. I have to trick mines to the opposite side of the tank and throw it in right away. Otherwise it will throw water out onto the floor or worst case scenario jumping out.

Thats pretty cool. My Snapping Turtle has gotten to the point where when he knows its feeding time he'll swim up the side of the tank and crane his head and neck out of the water. If it isnt feeding time he's hiding in the foliage, but he gets really bold for a snack.

one of the LFS near me has a 1500g display and they regularly feed them dead mice or rats and hold them like 2 feet above the water. amazing jumpers. ive even heard of them breaking covers of tanks

this happened sometime back when my aros were in a tank..but fortunately i've never had them flop out while feeding.. idk how you've secured your top.. but do have a look at it.. prob lowering the water level might help.. cheers.. :)
