Hi guys, I am new at this and want to make my first tank. I have read a lot about using plywood and fiberglass, but I wonder if I can use high density foam as the core for the tank for a lighter and ch. My idea is cover the entire tank in fiberglass inside and out. will this work? it is a going to be approximately a 200 liter tank (around 60 gallons) the idea is making it light since I will be moving withing one year and don't want to carry a heavy tank. Thank you so much

How would this work? Are you planning to use a mold to make the shape out of foam and then fiberglass the foam inside and out?

my idea is to use 2 inch thick foam sheet and make the box out of it and then cover it completely with fiberglass inside and out

Not sure what kind of 60g tank you plan on buying but most aren't that heavy. You can easily move them unless you are thinking of moving it with the water which will not happen.

Yeah just buy a standard 55 it will be cheap and easy enough to move.

I agree, a 200l glass tank can easily be carried by one person so why bother with this? It'd cost more to do this also I bet!

Thank you so much guys the thing is that I have been scaling down this project for ever from a 1000 liters and always thinking about building one. I am a hard core do it yourselfer LOL
