It would be helpful to post the exact product you bought as some of these products contain anti-mildew, anti-bacterial or fire retardant treatments that don't go well with aquarium life.

It does say 100% polyurethane

Will probably be good for polishing the water, I'd put it behind some pre filter material for sure.

No I have not yet had the opportunity. I am thinking bio, its way to dense.

Im going to try and build something to test flow, it is thick and very dense. Im almost convinced to would be better suited to bio functions.

Poret foam, which is widely used in the hobby, is also polyurethane. Your foam is basically the same, it says no flame retardant on the label so i'd say you're good to go. It does look extremely fine though. It'd be great for mechanical though you'd probably be rinsing it hell of a lot. Maybe better suited to bio. It looks that fine though if your mechanical side lets anything through I think it would very quickly clog up. Water would then flow round it rather than through it which isn't ideal. Give it a go and see how you get on.
