I am setting up a 10g con fry tank and was wondering wat afoam filter is????
is it just a filter with just foam in it and no carbon?

I believe that is where you hook up and airline to the sponge (the one you pictured would work I think) or a powerhead to the sponge, it pushes water through the sponge, but babies won't get sucked up into your filter...if I am wrong I'm sure someone will correct me.....
I would assume that what is ment by a "foam filter" would mean a Sponge filter much like the Hydrosponge where you can yes hook up an airpump or powerhead to it. You could fabricate your own filter out of that aquaclear foam block but it would just be cheaper and easier to buy an actual sponge filter IMO.
