TEXAS
Well as I posted before. I got a new 100G aquarium last weekend. Since then, I've been out on several days with a cast net and dip net collecting some stuff for it. I also collected 6 spps of plants. The only one I know is a bulrush, the rest are at this point, well.."aquatic plants". Anyway, here are a few pictures of some of my tanks new populace. Keep in mind these are new fish out of the nearby river so they haven't regained their (non-stressed) color yet, so they're kinda ugly:
Texas Cichlid about 4 inches:

two more TX Cichlids a bit smaller than the first:

two of these little TX Cichlids (1/2 to 3/4 inches):

A couple of the 6 spps of plants, an ID would be nice if anyone knows:

and lastly a picture of my almost finished aquarium. I'm headed out today to see if I can find any holey rock to replace those in the tank now:

I'll try and get pictures of the Darters and very small bluegill I caught once they get brave enough to come out and before the TX eat them.

its so much fun to catch your own... wish I knew of some safe & easy to get to places here
If you're in LA, you have one of the coolest fishes around right out your back door - the bowfin. When I lived in Nacogdoches, TX, I used to have a bowfin (Grinnel, dogfish, mudfish, et al.). He quickly became used to me and took minnows right out of my hand. Luckily I had a bait shop right down the road. Talk about a conversation piece. When people came over, the inevitable "What the ?#?$?& kinda fish is that?" came up. It is alot of fun to go out looking....Jason

So how are those 2 Emporer 400's working out for you with that 100 gallon? I'm asking because I'm thinking about using 2 of those (instead of just 1 and a canister filter) for my upcoming 90 gallon tank.

And nice tank btw.

I like'em. I've only had them for about a week now but they sure move some water. I haven't used a canister yet but I've used Hanging filters for years and love them. I like the waterfall sound. Another big plus for me is how easy the filters are to get to when it's time to change w/out going under the stand.

They are in all New Orleans canals, the south shore of the lake, and in city park. I gonna have to try and catch some one day.

spps of plants? What the hell does that mean lol. I think we sometimes get to crzy with all the abbreviations. Seriously though, what the heck does it mean.

Thanks.
