Any suggestions how to remove food debris from the bottom of a wet/dry sump? I started with a snail and it's not working well. The debris is powdery. It's particularly hard to reach under the grid holding the scrubbies.
Thanks.

turn off the pump. use the tubing you use to change water and siphon it out into a small bucket.

better pre filter.

why chase your tail when you can cut off the problem at its head?

I've thought of siphoning but the sump would be at the same level as the bucket. Suggestions? I guess I could get a hose long enough to go outside and down a couple of stairs.

How would I pre-filter bulkheads with screens?

Thanks.

or right after the bulkhead have a length of PVC with a filter sock in it with screw caps on the ends and plumbed in and viola you have a professional reusable prefilter
