I have two.
Polypterus senegalas
Polypterus endilicheri

I also have a clown knife, leopord ctenapomas and angelfish.

I am currently breeding guppies for feeders.

What is ideal food for these fish?

This site is the first place I have seen tilapia mentioned.
How does that work?

Any other options?

A varied diet is the best diet. I feed mine tilapia, krill, massivore, shrimp and I try to feed them catfish at least once a week because it helps with digestion.

they love red worms its also part of they're natural diet. I'd stay away from feeder fish it made my senegal aggressive.

aside from pellets if you want, I feed mine different types of fish fillets, prawns, shrimps, bloodworms and about anything else tasty you can think of.

Variety of foods are good. I usually keep mine on a staple of Hikari Massivores, but also give them Shrimp and occasionally fish. In fact, I just bought some Swai to feed them. They seem to love it. I also recently gave them some Yellow Croaker which they seem to love as well. Just cut up the fish, shrimp and/or any other foods to bite size pieces.

I feed mine with Hikari Carnivores Sinking pallets, u can go for the Massivores if your polys are bigger or if u would break it down for them.

Also i do give them tilapia and market prawn from time to time. These will require you to just cut them up into bits that they can fit into their mouth.

Have fun =)
