Hello, I took the advice given to me last time I posted and started my bn on a diet of cucumber (soaked in garlic), mangoes, and carrots as well as his algae disks. I was curious about other types of fruit and veggies:

First off I read that someone on here had a pleco that enjoyed coconuts husk and all. My little bn is nowhere near large enough for this but I was curious how he my react to kiwis.

Also, do they like mushrooms at all? Portabella's or shiitaki's? I have acess to lots of these.

Mushrooms are good high in fiber. I only use the button tops

I don't like feeding my plecos fruits. If I do, I feed them watermelon rind with some fruity flesh but not much. Plecos freak out for this stuff.

Sweet potatos/yams, green peas, carrots, and radish is what I feed on a regular. Fish food I only use HBH wafers.

BN's eat anything. Try to stick to simple foods to avoid problems.

Good to know, My husband grows organic mushrooms for a nearby organic market. So, we have boxes and boxes of them.

Why wereyou told to use garlic? This is only needed if it won't eat or you think there is some type of parasite. I just read over your post.

I had problems getting him to eat after a fairly bad ich problem. I eradicated the problem in the tank but it resurfaced a week or two later when I got some clown loaches.

I started him back on the garlic at that point with the ho[pe that it would help him to not get infected and It worked. I realize that it is no longer needed but I still soak one of his cucumbers a week in the garlic to help his immune system since he started with such a shaky start.
