Food for Rays

Hey there,
I have been keeping rays for awhile ( no where near as long as most of you, only for about 3 years). Right now I got buy prawns and shrimp at the frozen section, cut these up and feed. I have seen pretty good growth in the rays but have been wondering what else I should feed.

Currently I just have 1 12-14inch disk male.

Also any links to places I could possibly purchase foods/frozen or fresh?

Variety is the key. I doubt you need to chop up the prawns.

I use earthworms from the fishing tackle shop as they are a clean source, frozen mussel, spelt (small fish). Pellet foods like massivore, cichlid pellet, sturgeon food pellet I make up a big mix of types. I add liquid vitamins for fish to frozen food when I defrost it.

Lots of people use tilapia fillet.

Krill superba (big krill)

I also use king prawns and normal prawns.

You want to avoid just shell fish and cold water fish due to thiaminise.

Thanks! The shrimp I use its the largest I can get in the store, he seems to do pretty good when I cut it up (its almost 4inches when laid flat), I will look into adding some variety for sure!

Do you have any brands/places you buy this stuff at?

I am in the UK so will be different. Have a look for Massivore pellets, not cheap but really good. I tend to mix this up with Medikoi sturgeon pellets.

You want to stay away from the growth type foods.

Hikari also do the sinking cichlid pellets, you want the largest pellet they do.

Nutirtab are also very good.

Ahh thank you I will look into these, I used to feed massivore when I had my large catfish and they loved it!
