Hi guys, as you know, some people here including me would like to get their fish on eating non-live food. The problem is, some fish will only be interested in something if it appears to be alive. Now, in my case my fish shows interest in most things that are in the water - my finger, plant debris etc. I am sure I could possibly get it to eat something that isnt alive because it is always looking for food and is aggressive when it comes to food. I tried to get a piece of market shrimp, and I ripped off the tail area so i can hold it and it would be easier for the fish to swallow.

I am dealing with a 4 inch fish, so that is why I chose that piece. Well, I hung the shrimp in the water at the surface and wiggled it around, the fish started going nuts and approached it but I let it go. Once I did that he followed it until it landed on the bottom of the tank and he did nothing.

The problem is, I didnt want to get bit, I had been bit before by this fish. So, I am trying to figure out what I could rig up or use to manipulate the fish into thinking the food is alive when it isnt. I'd just like for something to be safe for me and the fish. Any suggestions? Thanks

what kind of fish?

they have tongs and other apparatus like a pole kind of to feed saltwater fish like eels that need to be spot fed, that might work for you

what kind of fish are you dealing with?

Dealing with a Chinese Perch. Using line or anything liek that, I fear it might be harmful to the fish. I dont know, I dont want something happening where the fish swallows some line and I gotta get it out or something.
